Bloom Professional Development

Professional development for your studio.

Training for your whole teaching team. A shared framework for understanding how students actually learn under load and how to organize instruction around those hidden layers.

Bring the Workshop to Your Studio Can be held virtually or in-person.
Why this exists

Aerial asks students to navigate physical challenge, technical complexity, discomfort, and sometimes fear. That puts an enormous amount in the hands of the instructor.

An aerial instructor does more than teach skills. They shape how a student experiences challenge, interprets failure, builds confidence, navigates pain, and ultimately whether they persist long enough to discover what aerial can give them.

This professional development workshop brings motor learning theory, nervous system literacy, psychological safety, and ethics to your team for a safer classroom, better learning outcomes, and better retention.

"The teacher directly shapes whether a student gets a fair chance to fall in love with the art form, or leaves with a story about themselves that it wasn't for them. Our job is to make sure that the teaching method doesn't get in the way of student success."

BEYOND TECHNIQUE

The hidden curriculum of high-load teaching for aerial and movement educators

Nervous system, motor learning, psychological safety, and frameworks behind student-centered teaching

This workshop highlights the critical roles of the nervous system, motor learning theory (and how to strategize cueing around it), and psychological safety in aerial instruction. Teachers learn how to skillfully work with these layers for safer classrooms, better learning outcomes, ethics-based practice, and higher retention. The team walks away with a new lens for interpreting the classroom and concrete practices to implement at their next class.

Teaching methods and techniques your team can implement immediately.

OUTCOMES

Teaching shifts after this workshop.

01

You read the room differently.

You'll learn how to read and work with students' nervous systems, so your teaching adapts to their state, not just their level. This will not only help more aerialists succeed and progress, but will also build trust and support a more grounded learning environment.

02

Your cues become more strategic.

Motor learning theory changes how and when you speak. You'll start designing your cues around the learning process, not just reacting to what you see. Students will get the support they need, progress faster, and develop autonomy because you know when to help and when to stay quiet.

03

You redefine progress and shift how you and your students think.

Progress isn't just skill acquisition. It's physiological adaptation, proprioceptive development, tolerance for challenge and failure, and movement quality. You start to prioritize layered learning, and the gaps disappear.

04

Your students trust the process.

When your team shares a framework for psychological safety and belonging, students feel it. They stop chasing tricks and start trusting the journey. They stop pressuring teachers and start respecting their boundaries.

Professional Development that Benefits Everyone

Every student who walks through your door deserves a teacher who understands what they're actually going through.

In their words

From trainees & students:

"I feel leagues more confident with a deeper understanding of anatomy, teaching theory, studio safety, and an exploration of real world teaching scenarios. I've largely dispelled the idea that I need to be an expert in everything to be an excellent teacher. In reality I can be an incredible teacher of the things I know well, and simply say when I don't know something."

M Whitaker

"Having the knowledge of the amygdala vs the prefrontal cortex and how they interact helped solidify that when someone is in fear they truly will not be able to learn anything."

Phil Mura

"The stages of learning definitely shifted my perspective. I noticed that I'm watching students and holding my cues when they're working on a skill to give them time to feel it in their bodies. My students are actually getting the skills when I give them the space to do it without cues."

Cassie Drumm

"By far the best aerial instruction I've ever experienced."

Steph Salem

"Having these concepts named and organized is incredibly helpful and will allow me to think about them in logical ways and add them to my curriculum with intention."

Hannah Gern

"Even though I am studying anatomy and applied anatomy in school, the adaptation specifically to aerial arts has been very interesting to me while reinforcing what I am also learning about in school."

Ashley Brehm

"Sara is an excellent instructor. She makes learning the art very safe and super fun. We are so fortunate to have someone of her caliber teaching aerial."

FAQ

Who is the entry workshop for?
Any aerial studio or program, regardless of size or teaching philosophy. No prerequisites, no prior relationship with BLOOM required. It is designed for the whole teaching staff to attend together.
Is the entry workshop virtual or in person?
Always live with Sara — virtual by default, in person when travel arrangements can be made. A replay is provided for staff who cannot attend live.

The workshop is priced per studio, not per person. Your whole teaching staff attends at no additional cost.
Is there a group discount for BLOOM certification?
Yes. Studios that come through the workshop together receive a group discount when individual instructors enroll in the full BLOOM Aerial Teacher Training. Details are shared in the follow-up consultation.
